Learn the language of the conductor, spoken through the physical movement of the arms and the body. Also, learn the history of the concert and its modern etiquette; why is it taboo to clap between movements? What defines the different types of ensembles? This course will tell you!
INtroduction to reading music and terminology
Saturday - April 13th, 2019
Gain insight on how musicians interpret notation to create the beautiful sounds you hear every day. Also understand how to describe and explain the different sounds and styles of Western art music (ex. orchestral works, choral repertoire, etc.).
INstrument petting zoo
Saturday - April 20th, 2019
Have you ever wanted to play an instrument, but had no opportunity to try? Come sample instruments from each family - woodwinds, brass, strings, and percussion. Then learn fundamental tone production on the instrument of your choosing in a group setting.
“What am i hearing?” history of thematic material and film music
Saturday - April 27th, 2019
Dive into the world of film scores and discover the origins of music traditions. The emotional capabilities and staying tendencies of music will be explored. May also be considered a music history crash course!
