Music Major for a Day


UNR NAfME collegiate have created an event for high school students who may be interested in studying music at the University of Nevada, Reno. We invite interested high school juniors and seniors, and ambitious underclassmen to take advantage of this comprehensive look into the student life and academics of the music degree program.

We offer this event once per fall and spring semester and spots fill up quickly. Please ensure you fill out the registration form at the link provided prior to the deadlines listed.

Event Information

Registered students will be guided through a day in the life of a music major here at UNR. Each student will be assigned to shadow a current music collegiate at the university and together, they will go to many of the required and integral classes required to satisfy a music degree, including lessons and various ensemble rehearsals.

Registered students will also attend workshops that go over the theory exam that is required prior to taking music theory classes at the university and a faculty panel where they can meet some of the departments professors and ask any questions they have.

*A lunch and dinner break will be provided for the students, but we (the collegiate students) recommend they bring a refillable water bottle and snacks for shorter breaks in the schedule.
